The Blessing Project began in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, serving as a beacon of hope and support for those in need. From our humble beginnings with a small shed full of donated essentials, we’ve grown into a nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity, normalcy, and joy to communities facing hardship.

Our Roots

The Inspiring Journey of The Blessing Project

In September 2024, Hurricane Helene devastated Swannanoa, NC, and neighboring communities. Homes were destroyed, lives were upended, and countless families were left in need. While our home was spared, our hearts were broken for those who lost so much.

As a family, we felt called to act. From volunteering with Meals on Wheels to helping those living in tents find shelter, we saw firsthand the resilience of our community and the power of compassion. Then, a phone call changed everything. A friend offered a truckload of donated items, and with the generous support of Pine View Buildings in Swannanoa, the Blessing Barn was born.

What started as a small storefront has grown into a movement, bringing dignity, essentials, and holiday cheer to hundreds of families across Western North Carolina. And this is just the beginning.
